Here are some comments people have made about 'Annals of the Nine Realms':-Fortunately for all of us, Christine Davidson has decided to share her fantasy tale, “Annals of the Nine Realms”. This really shines… The author’s strength lies in her ability to describe places and people; she has a way of turning a phrase that is very appealing. The tale is influenced by Tolkien, but it has an inner consistency and stands on its own. Very much worth reading. Gary Hunnewell ('Hildifons Took') in Amon Hen, the Tolkien Society Bulletin
Christine has long been inspired by Tolkien’s work— and the world she has woven from a time before written history does have that inner consistency and and wealth of detail that Tolkien displayed in Middle-earth so very well. But, Christine manages to break away nicely from any direct influence from Lord of the Rings— rather than influence I would suggest inspiration came from that direction, and that is all to the good. She keeps a vision that is her own and a place that is quite fascinating to visit. Holt Goodfellow seems as unlikely a figure as Tolkien might have chosen himself, to set Everyman against the trials of something far greater than he might otherwise experience, and yet to strive to be equal to the tasks ahead of him. The quality of the writing is a real delight, as is the story itself, full of suspense, action and drama. Alex Lewis, Tolkien Society Writer’s Group[Alex’ book, ‘Uncharted Realms of Tolkien’ is available now from booksellers and on the Internet]
Lovely site, I shall keep checking back for the continuation of your tale Anthony S Burdge, Heren Istarion www.herenistarion.org
I love it— right from the first bit I saw, it seemed to ‘connect’ with me at a very deep level. I liked Holt as soon as I met him (before I even knew what he looked like). It all seems so ‘real’ and full of meaning, absolutely enchanting (in the best sense of the word) and at the same time rooted in a kind of gentle homeliness, and profoundly moving. I like your plots, which have a lot of originality, and your descriptions, which are really vivid and evocative. I have never seen any work of fantasy which combined such an enthralling, believable and consistent ‘secondary world’ with such well-realised and three-dimensional characters. I can see the Tolkien ‘inspiration’ but you have gone way beyond that and created something fully and beautifully your own. Hilary Longstaff
I like your book very much and can't wait
for the next installment. Keep it up— You do very very nice work and I appreciate the fact that I can see it for free otherwise I may not have ever been able to read it. Thank you! Theresa Gugliuzza
